Agent Snapshot: Javier Olmedo, Real Estate Consultant, Keller Williams, Coral Gables

Javier-Olmedo

Javier Olmedo is a real estate consultant with Keller Williams working in Coral Gables.

What was your first job in the realty industry? I started Real Estate on the lending side of the industry. I obtained my mortgage broker license, then my mortgage broker business and real estate.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Listen to Music and watch television.

Where did you grow up? Miami-Florida.

Growing up, what did you want to be? Always wanted to be a teacher and impact lives. I became a teacher and did so, then I decided to impact lives but differently.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Being a former History teacher, this is an unfair question. Top Three:

Fidel Castro – I want to know why he has managed to pull apart so many families and how he can be OK with that – want to get in his head and see what really fuels his belief system.

Maya Angelou – Her grace, eloquence and caring for humanity have always lit a fire in me.

Walt Disney – I want to see what he dreamt about and how he perceived his world. His idea has grown to an empire and I want to see what he thought it would become and how.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Any Wine Bar.

What do you love most about the industry? The hunt of a great deal for my customers and knowing I made it happen.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Passion for what I do. I feel every step of the way right along my customer. Ultimately, looking out for them.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Asking people to take out the emotion out of the business transaction. This is a structure where they called home for years so people have a hard time disconnecting the memories with the physicality of the building.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Social gatherings with friends. They usually bring their friends and we make connections.

What has been you greatest accomplishment? Selling $10MM in the small community I live. The price point is low so it shows volume and trust in me and my business sense.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?  12 Years a Slave

What is your favorite restaurant? Old Lisbon off Coral Way

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston? Freedom Tower – there is an emotionally charged ambiance.

Architecturally – Marlins Stadium

What kind of car do you drive? BMW 328-i

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone first then paper!

What is your favorite city after Houston? Sonoma, CA.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Persistence – Get up one more time then you fall.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?KW – App

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter?Still looking for that killer Twitter person that would make me laugh.
