Theresa Marrocco Real Estate Agent

RelatedISG Realty

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?

I was in land development and homebuilding from graduating high school until the crash of 2007. Many people think the crash was in October 2008, but real estate and development crashed in August 2007 and happened overnight. On a whim, I opened up a clothing store because, at that point, only the real estate market was hit. Shopping online was new, so it was taboo for clothing manufacturers to sell to online retailers. I taught myself how to build a website and was the first eCommerce store in Michigan selling women’s and children’s clothing. In 2014, I decided to get a real estate license.

Where did you grow up?

Clinton Township, Michigan.

Growing up, what did you want to be?

I wanted to be a veterinarian.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?

I like to cook, but if I’m really stressed, I love to listen to guided meditations.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?

It would be Tony Robbins. It’s been a long-running joke among friends that I was meant to have drinks with him because I’ve seen him twice.

Where is South Florida’s best-kept secret?

Greek Islands Taverna in Fort Lauderdale. It’s Greek, but it’s a favorite among Italians (Greeks are Italians inside out).

What do you love most about the industry?

I love the camaraderie among professional Realtors. When you work with an agent who takes the profession seriously, it’s like you ran a marathon together and formed a bond.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?

There are a lot of misconceptions about real estate agents. For some reason, it’s a profession that is often disrespected because people don’t realize how much work it requires.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?

Utilizing social media platforms is an amazing way to generate new leads.

What’s your favorite meal in South Florida?

The shrimp from the Greek Islands Taverna in Fort Lauderdale.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in South Florida?

The Versace Mansion in Miami is gorgeous.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?

I have so many! I called social services after showing a house because I was positive that a dead body was in it and a baby was living there. I found out that the smell was cat pee. I actually did a TikTok on that.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

For some reason, people find it surprising that my parents were Italian immigrants. I guess I don’t look Italian.

What’s your favorite vacation spot and why?

Sedona, Arizona. There is just something magical about it. I am dying to go to Cuba as well.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?

Join a team and learn how to prospect.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?

Glennda Baker, a Realtor from Atlanta, and @albertcantu2, another Realtor from Texas – he is hilarious!
