Morris Massre is a Realtor with Prudential Florida Realty in Weston.

What was your first job in the realty industry?
My first job was as a Realtor in 1997, and I am still doing it today.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which was a small and relatively unknown town back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I attended every public school in the city and even attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in English.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
I love to get in the gym and workout in my free time. It is very invigorating.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
I work in my yard and garden when stressed out. It is a wonderful form of therapy for me.

Growing up, what did you want to be?
I thought I wanted to be a writer, which is the reason I originally went to journalism school. But even though I was always pretty good at it, I was a much better salesman.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
I would love to have lunch and chat with Bruce Springsteen for a couple of hours. He is a brilliant musician and songwriter who draws inspiration from the common man. I would just like to pick his brain as to how on earth he comes up with so much material that seems to reach the everyman.

Where is your favorite place to hang out?
My favorite hangout is the beach. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the beach watching the water and listening to the waves come into shore.

What do you love most about the industry?
More than anything, I love the final result that occurs when you close a very difficult deal. You can obviously see the joy in people’s faces when it closes, and the satisfaction is overwhelming for me.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I am honest.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Competing against those who speak multiple languages. I often tell clients that it is not the language that makes a good Realtor – it’s the experience and knowledge.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients?
Generally everywhere. I have no particular locale.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
Going from last to first in my office in terms of closed deals. Being No. 1 does have its merits.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
“Destiny of the Republic” by Candice Millard. What an incredibly inspiring and well-written book about the rise and tragic fall of President James Garfield.

What is your favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is a little Cuban place called Havana’s in Cooper City. Cuban food in general is simple, but this place takes it to the next level.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami?
I don’t think that Miami is as architecturally well-endowed as, say, Washington or Chicago, but there are a few that have merit. It is probably a toss up between the Bacardi building and the Freedom Tower. I just wish someone would do more with the both of them.

What kind of car do you drive?
A Ford Escape Hybrid.

Smartphone or paper?
iPhone because I have to, but I like paper much more.

What is your favorite city after Miami?
Toronto. Probably the cleanest and most walkable city I have ever been to.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Be prepared for everything and research like no tomorrow.

What’s your favorite Real Estate iPhone/ Blackberry app?
Just the eKey really. The others are quite lame for me.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter?
Diana Olick of CNBC and Gabrielle Jeans. Both of these women are sheer geniuses on the subject.
