Joint developers Tristar Capital, RFR Holdings and The Related Cos. say they will break ground this month on the W South Beach Hotel & Residences, a 419-unit condo-hotel project. This is the fifth W Hotel and Residence project announced in the United States following the W Dallas, W Fort Lauderdale, W Scottsdale and the W Hoboken.
Situated on the site of the old Holiday Inn at 2201 Collins Ave. in Miami Beach, W South Beach Hotel & Residences will feature fully fur- nished, one- and two-bedroom units, penthouses and beach bungalows, all with ocean views. Some units will feature glass balconies, 9-foot-high ceil- ings, fully equipped catering kitchens, marble and wood flooring, imported cabinetry in the kitchens and baths, spa showers, soaking tubs, plasma TVs, CD and DVD players and iPod docking stations. The high-rise will also include a ballroom, accom- panying meeting rooms and retail space, a bar and lounge area, two restaurants, multiple pools and a spa. Units at the W range in price between the mid-$700,000s to $8 million.
General contractor K.M. Plaza will oversee construction and sales will be headed up by Related Cervera Group. The sales center is relo- cating to 309 23rd St., and the opening of the W South Beach Hotel & Residences is slated for December 2008.
