Hemley Gonzalez

Affordable Real Estate

What was your first job in the realty industry?
Answering phones at a real estate company when I was 17 years old, where I quickly graduated to administrative work, leading me to become a licensed real estate professional at age 18.

Who inspires you and why?
The incredible team of professionals I work with inspire me. I am constantly motivated by them, because they believe in me and the concept of our company.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
Reading and catching up with family and friends. I don’t do either as much as I should.

How did you learn the business?
I learned the business by running a real estate office right after leaving high school. Watching everything that goes into a transaction, from phone call to closing, before jumping in to sell proved to be an invaluable experience.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
Best movie: TransAmerica (Felicity Hoffman was unbelievable); best recent book: “The World is Flat” by Thomas Friedman.

What is your favorite restaurant?
I have quite a few, but Ortanique on Miracle Mile stands out.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami?
We finally have some daring and creative architecture emerging in Miami, although some will argue not enough. While I consider my self a modernist, I must say the Mediterranean and Art Deco buildings of South Beach will always have a very special place in my heart.

What kind of car do you drive?
I have a nice car, nothing fancy. It gets me from point A to point B.

BlackBerry, Palm or paper, and why?
Neither; I try to limit my notes, emails and contact functions to my desktop so real estate doesn’t guide my life outside the office.

What is your favorite city after Miami?
Buenos Aires, hands down.

What is your personal motto?
Do right by others and yourself, be positive, eat well, live in gratitude, and put yourself in other people’s shoes to understand differences, and things will always work out.
