Before joining Caliber Home Loans in February 2017, LaPenta was one of the top originators at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, earning a spot among the best 200 originators in the company as well as among the top 5 in the state of Florida for purchase production, overall volume production and top-rated customer experience. In 2016, 92 percent of LaPenta’s closed customers indicated that they were “exceptionally satisfied” with the services he provided, beating all previous years’ satisfaction ratings while funding over $62 million for the year in 2016. “They appreciate the detail, knowledge, and desire I have to build a relationship with them,” says LaPenta, noting that he never views a client as just another transaction.

“I enjoy people,” he says. “I love learning from them. I love hearing their life stories and learning how I might have a significant impact on their wealth management goals. I have long appreciated that the home I am helping them purchase is more than concrete and wood; it is where their memories and holidays will be spent and remembered. This is most important to me.”

After a distinguished 25-year career at Wells Fargo, LaPenta decided to take his business to the next level when he joined Caliber Home Loans as a sales manager in February 2017. LaPenta has always focused on purchase production and his move to Caliber is a testament to the broad spectrum of his lending capabilities, which now include foreign national lending, portfolio products to assist clients with less-than-perfect credit, low down payment jumbo options to $2.5 million and a vast array of other options to fit nearly every buyer’s goals for homeownership.

Since his transition to Caliber Home Loans, LaPenta has already opened up a new office in Miami Beach. The branch, which is an offshoot of the main location in Coral Gables, offers in-branch processing and closing services. Caliber offers “The Ultimate Homebuying Experience” which means reduced paperwork, turnaround times for buyers of as little as 10 days and a concierge experience. LaPenta prides himself on delivering excellent service every day.

During his off time, he is a veteran Division I College football official, entering his 19th season. He is also a referee in The American Athletic Conference. “I appreciate the weekly challenge preparing for each football game,” he says, not to mention “the challenge of successfully managing each game under enormous pressure.”
