The Related Group broke ground on Apogee Beach, the first South Florida high-rise to start construction in over four years. The condo tower is the first of 20 proposed South Florida condo developments to reach the construction phase.

The 22-story oceanfront tower, located at 2801 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd., was designed by Carlos Ott with interiors by David Rockwell. It is the first official joint venture project for Related ISG, the Related Group’s sales and marketing arm. Over 50 percent of Apogee Beach’s units are under hard contract.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by developer Jorge Perez; Hollywood, Fla., Mayor Peter Bober and Vice Mayor Patty Asseff, among others.

The Related Group plans to roll out at least 11 other projects in the coming year, including mybrickell in downtown Miami, which is set to break ground in the first quarter of 2012.
