Renata Jernigan is a Realtor Associate with the Campins Company in Miami Beach/Downtown Miami.

What was your first job in the realty industry? My first job in the realty industry was as a Realtor Associate at USA Realty.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in the jungles of the Amazon and in the beautiful Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

What is your favorite free-time activity? My favorite free-time activity is spending quality time with my husband and son at the park, beach or just running errands.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? When I am stressed, I bake, bake and bake some more. It completely relaxes me.

Growing up, what did you want to be? Growing up, I wanted to be a lawyer or journalist.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? If I could have lunch with any well-known figure, I think would definitely pick Warren Buffet. I admire his entrepreneurship, wisdom and success. Plus, he recently wrote an essay all about how women are key to America’s prosperity. I would love to discuss his thoughts on the subject.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? I love the beach and a good restaurant.

What do you love most about the industry? I love that we, as Realtors, can become a part of peoples live’s during one of the most important decisions of their lives. It is rewarding to see a family settle into their brand new home.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Honesty and truth! I treat every client with respect, and I am completely transparent and honest during the entire transaction. My clients know that I have their best interests at heart.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? At the moment, the lack of inventory for my buyers. Finding the right home for a buyer is that much more difficult, due to the lack of homes in the market.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? My niche is with athletes, so my favorite place to network is always a sports event or local charity event.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment has been gaining notoriety and respect amongst sports agents and athletes.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The last book I read was “One Thousand Gifts” by Ann Voskamp. The last movie I watched, with my four-year-old, was Horton Hears a Who.

What is your favorite restaurant? Jean-George in Central Park, NYC. Just a fairy tale experience.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? The Icon Brickell is one of my favorite buildings in Miami. I love the contemporary elegance displayed throughout the building.

What kind of car do you drive? Lexus SUV.

Smartphone or paper? Both smartphone and paper.

What is your favorite city after Miami? Rio de Janeiro.

What is your advice for someone new to the industry? Find a good mentor, and learn as much as you can – and fast. The industry waits for no man or woman!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Dropbox, eKey, eFax and TinyScan.
