Agent Snapshot: Leticia Gonzalez, Real Estate Agent, Real Estate Empire Group, Miami

Leticia-Gonzalez

Leticia Gonzalez is a real estate agent working with Real Estate Empire Group in Miami.

What was your first job in the realty industry? My first introduction to the real estate industry was back in 2001 when I worked as a loan officer. Soon after that I founded my own mortgage company and was successful for several years with our main office outside of Washington, D.C. and two smaller offices in Miami and Asheville.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? There are several things I do to relax. I may listen to classical music; I drive to Key Biscayne and sit at the beach for a while; and sometimes I just go to the gym and work it out there.

Where did you grow up? I was born in Washington, D.C. and moved to Miami in 1970. I moved back to Washington, D.C. in 2001 and stayed until 2008. Later went to N.Y.C. (2009 to 2011) and then to Miami, where I have been ever since.

Growing up, what did you want to be? I have enjoyed the arts. I was in drama, and I sang in a rock band in my earlier years.

Rock star or an actress.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be? I would choose to have lunch with Jesus Christ. I would choose Jesus because he was filled with love, honesty and wisdom. What better experience can one have to sit with someone who has your best interest at heart and you can truly learn about love, kindness, meekness and service to mankind without self interest.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? I have two places I love to hang out: a park and/or the beach.

What do you love most about the industry? The idea that I can improve the lives of others is what inspires me. I enjoy assisting my clients in finding that perfect property. I get excited about new condo projects and lovely homes.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? The main difference is my extensive knowledge of the mortgage industry. Along with my client’s lender, I am able to guide my clients and assist in the mortgage process.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The most difficult aspect was getting started. I love working with sellers, but, at times, it is difficult to make sellers realize that the market is what sets the price. This aspect can be challenging only when my seller is unrealistic with their desired sales price.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Word of mouth, referrals and leads.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment was owning and operating a mortgage company that consisted of three offices.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The Imitation Game.

What is your favorite restaurant? Right now I would have to say The Eating House.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? In South Beach I have always been a big fan of The Victor Hotel on Ocean Drive.

What kind of car do you drive? Volkswagon.

Smartphone or paper? Both.

What is your favorite city after Miami? New York City.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Stay focused on your goal.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Go MLS Miami.
