Vanessa Rabade is a sales associate with EWM Realtors, Inc. in Kendall.

What was your first job in the realty industry? Assisting a top producer at EWM. It really helped with learning the in’s and out’s of real estate.

Where did you grow up? Born and raised in Miami!

What is your favorite free-time activity? Going on trips as much as possible is a must for me! Even if it’s just a trip down to the Keys.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? When I’m stressed and have 20 things running through my head I just take a break from what I’m doing, take a deep breath and make a list of what I need to do. Lists really help out!

Growing up, what did you want to be? I always wanted to be an accountant – until I took an accounting class. That changed quickly…

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I would love to have lunch with Oprah. She is such an inspiration!

Where is your favorite place to hang out? The Keys are very relaxing and a good place to just get together with family and friends.

What do you love most about the industry? It’s something different everyday! Definitely keeps you on your toes.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Just being myself. I am a very easy going person, and I get along with people really easily. This helps my clients feel comfortable and trust me with finding their dream home!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The most difficult aspect is when agents don’t answer their calls or texts! How do you expect to make a sale when you don’t answer?!

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I probably did more networking in high school and my first years of college! I try to go out to events and hand out my cards as much as possible. Even going to a nice restaurant one night can help! I also advertise on Zillow and I have gotten a few contacts from there as well.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment has been getting a closing done at 8 o’ clock at night! It was a foreclosure property and had to be closed that day! I definitely needed a glass of wine after that night!

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The last good book I read was “The Fault in Our Stars.” Definitely recommend it!

What is your favorite restaurant? My favorite restaurant is Chef Adrienne’s.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? The Freedom Tower. There is just so much history in that building.

What kind of car do you drive? 2013 VW Jetta.

Smartphone or paper? Depends. For notes, definitely paper. Smartphone comes in handy for every other reason!

What is your favorite city after Miami? Definitely has to be Santorini, Greece.

What is your advice for someone new to the industry? Try to work as an assistant for a year or two. You would be surprised how much you will actually learn! Also, don’t assume – always ask!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? My favorite app is MLS Fusion. It really helps when you need to look up a property on the road and are not near your computer.
