Lani Kahn Drody is the broker/president of Lowell International Realty in Coral Gables.

What was your first job in the realty industry?
Right out of college, I worked for The Keyes Company Realtors as their director of financial services and as principal broker of Home Partners (their affiliated mortgage broker at the time).

Where did you grow up?
Coral Gables.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
Being with my family.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Go for a run.

Growing up, what did you want to be?
An actress.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be?
Steve Jobs. I just finished reading his biography and admire his pursuit of perfection in the products he invented and produced. He didn’t rest until the customer experience was perfect. He constantly sought to innovate. Innovation and craftmanship of products and services are paramount today and I value those tenants in our real estate business.

Where is your favorite place to hang out?
Coral Reef Yacht Club with friends.

What do you love most about the industry?
Putting a good deal together.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
We are a boutique firm that specializes in white-glove, concierge-style service. We approach real estate as a profession and go beyond the realm of just real estate in the services we offer clients. I personally have an extensive background in real estate development having built thousands of homes throughout South Florida through our sister company, Lowell Homes. I was also the first femaie president of the local chapter of the National Association of Homebuilders in 60 years. I am a current director of NAHB as well.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Logistics.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients?
I’m always networking everywhere.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
My kids.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
Les Miserables.

What is your favorite restaurant?
Zuma.

What is your favorite building in Miami?
Coral Gables City Hall is an all-time favorite, and so is the Baccardi building. The 1111 Lincoln Road parking garage is pretty darn cool at night. And I think the Grove at Grand Bay is going to be a sight to see.

What kind of car do you drive?
Mercedes-Benz.

Smartphone, or paper?
Both, but I’m a traditionalist at heart. Handwritten notes mean you care.

What is your favorite city after Miami?
Toss up between Paris and San Francisco.

What is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Approach it as a profession.

What is your favorite iPhone/Android app?
Realtor.com.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter?
I don’t tweet!
