Thirty-three years ago, Marsha Gandy was an electrical engineer with a penchant for investing in real estate when she discovered a problem worth solving: Both the representation in the industry and the process of securing a mortgage needed improvement. Gandy, VP of mortgage lending at Guaranteed Rate, left engineering to do just that. Three decades later, she continues to take care of her clients the way she feels mortgage customers should be treated: with integrity, compassion and professionalism.
“I advise them that they are the bosses in the process, and I am the expert,” she says. “They provide me what they have to work with, along with their goals, and I structure the game plan with the tools available to best get them to their goals.”
Assisting a range of clients, from first-time homebuyers and investors to corporate executives and real estate entrepreneurs with large investment portfolios, Gandy’s focus is residential mortgages. Her ability to quickly solve challenges and help borrowers rectify such issues as credit scores comes from several decades of structuring thousands of files, solving thousands of challenges, and closing on thousands of mortgages for families and investors.
Ranked among the top 1% of mortgage originators in the U.S. by Mortgage Executive Magazine, Gandy has also appeared on the Top 200 list of Women Originators in the U.S. by Scotsman Guide and earned Top Customer Service awards at Guaranteed Rate.
Turning a hobby into a profession has enabled Gandy to help generations of families and investors with one of the most important financial decisions they will ever make. “After working with clients for so many years, I now assist with their vacation homes, their retirement homes, and the homes their children and grandchildren purchase.”
To give back, Gandy has been an active member of Rotary International — a nonpolitical, nonreligious service organization that operates all over the world to improve the quality of life for individuals and families — for 20 years and counting.
