Fisher Island dethroned Atherton, California, after its reign of almost a decade as the most expensive zip code in the U.S.
With a median sales price of $9.5 million, up 65% from last year, Miami Beach’s 33109 ZIP code topped Atherton’s $8.33 million median, according to Property Shark.
The cheapest home sold in Fisher Island this year fetched $1.41 million. Meanwhile, the most expensive sold for nearly $23.7 million to Miami lawyers William and Juliean Charouhis.
“Fisher Island ranked No. 1 this year thanks to a remarkable 65% year-over-year surge in pricing,” Property Shark senior writer Eliza Theiss told South Florida Agent magazine. “Atherton’s slip from the top wasn’t due to a weak market, but rather another market’s much more aggressive price increase.”
