Miami River District condo tower to break ground in early 2023

by Patrick Regan

The condominium tower in Miami’s River District project is slated to break ground early in 2023, the developer, Chetrit Group, announced this week.

Situated between I-95, Southwest Second Avenue and Jose Marti Park, the project will combine living, working and entertainment space totaling 4 million square feet. It will include an office tower, condo tower, two apartment towers and two retail buildings. Construction of the first rental tower and two retail buildings is already underway.

The development will offer about 1,600 residences, 30,000 square feet of retail space, a boat marina that can accommodate 60-foot vessels, 2,000 covered parking spots, plus restaurants and nightlife venues in a riverwalk setting. The design will be modeled after the beachfront walkways of Rio de Janeiro.

“The Miami River has been ripe for a new archetype of riverfront living, especially as the Brickell neighborhood continues to attract national companies and new residents to its urban core,” Michael Chetrit of Chetrit Group said in a news release. “With demand for new, curated experiences walkable from Brickell Avenue at an all-time high, we are excited to introduce a ground-up new neighborhood that builds and honors community, with a Brazilian twist. The River District is going to create a riverwalk experience for the first time in the city, and we expect to completely transform how people in the area live, work and play.”

The condominium building will include 378 units in 52 stories. Completion is scheduled for 2026. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing will handle sales and marketing.
