Florida report stresses the importance of Realtors

by Stacy Carchman

Florida buyers rely heavily on the internet when first looking to buy a home, according to a recent report by the National Association of Realtors. However, the role of a Realtor and the relationships they build with buyers and sellers is crucial.

“Buyers and sellers need Realtors for their buying and selling journey,” said Florida Realtors economist Erica Plemmons. “Opportunities exist via connections to past clients and new-home buyers.”

The report noted that 89% of buyers used real estate agents as a source of information in their home search. However, buyers typically search for three weeks before contacting an agent.

The report noted that even buyers of new construction homes can benefit from using an agent to serve as their advocate because they understand the design center process, negotiating add-ons, and have experience with walk-throughs.

Sellers are motivated by relationships, according to the report, and this is where agents and brokers can make a great impact.

Agents need to form relationships with sellers through connections with friends, relatives and neighbors. Thirty-eight percent of Florida sellers were introduced to their agent through these sources.
