Casey earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and has furthered his education with a variety of training and management seminars and programs.
John Casey is a 30-year veteran of the construction industry. As president of Christa Construction & Development, he is responsible for the company’s entire southeast portfolio, and currently leading the redevelopment efforts for Caribbean, a historic Miami Beach hotel undergoing restoration and conversion into a high-end condominium with two oceanfront towers.
Christa Construction & Development, LLC is an affiliate of New York-based Christa Construction, a fully integrated real estate company and one of the region’s most prominent builders. Together, this consortium has developed over three million square feet of residential, office and industrial space, building $300 million in construction annually.
Casey began his career with Christa almost 25 years ago. Prior to heading up the Florida company, Casey spent 13 years as Christa’s CEO and executive VP. Throughout his tenure, he has completed a volume of work, having managed more than $4 billion of construction, including $3 billion in construction management projects and $1 billion in general construction and design/build projects. He has worked extensively in pre-construction services, including planning, program reviewing, budget analysis, comprehensive master scheduling and construction scheduling.
Caribbean- A high-end oceanfront condominium being redeveloped in Miami Beach. Originally built in 1941 and designed by famed architect Lawrence Murray Dixon, Caribbean is now undergoing a $10 million renovation.
The existing six-story building at 3737 Collins Ave. is being renovated to include 35 luxury units in what is to be called the North Tower. The South Tower recently topped off at 19 stories. Completion of both buildings is on schedule for summer 2008. An on-premise, 35,000-square-foot, 108-space underground parking garage will be available with Caribbean.
Recently Completed Projects
Lofts at Mayfair- An $18 million condominium complex located at 3339 Virginia St., in the heart of Coconut Grove. The 102-unit two building complex is five stories high. It won the gold medal for architecture at the 2006 Florida’s BEST Awards, sponsored by the Builders Association of South Florida.
Casey’s professional memberships include the Latin Builder’s Association, Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce, Associated General Contractors of America, Business Council of NYS Inc. Government Affairs Committee, CEO Roundtable of Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, Construction Specifications Institute, General Building Contractors of NYS and the Monroe Community College Alumni Hall of Fame.
In his downtime, Casey is an avid biker and collects Harley-Davidsons. He and his wife made their honeymoon into a motorcycle trip, riding through Western Europe and Prague.
