Nelson Roberto Duque

Vice President of Development Sales and Acquisitions

Fortune International Realty

When Realtor Nelson Roberto Duque works with his clients, he believes in treating everyone like a VIP. “Regardless of the size of the deal, I offer the same level of service, responsiveness and attention to detail,” he says. “It’s important to make every client feel like a million-dollar buyer or seller, because chances are they might be one day.”

Duque, the vice president of development sales and acquisitions for Fortune International Realty, learned importance of customer service and dedication while running his first small business at the age of 17, and it’s been a crucial part of his success. Today, Duque has been in the industry for over 11 years, and his dedication and perseverance have paid off. He has overseen over $1.5 billion in development inventory in South Florida, North Florida and Latin America. He was chosen as one of the “Top 20 Professionals under 40” in 2012 by Brickell magazine, and as one of the “Top 30 under 30 Realtors” in 2015 by National Realtor magazine.

Duque has held his current position for the past seven years, an accomplishment he’s exceptionally proud of. Among his greatest achievements is playing a role in the transformation of Brickell through his involvement at Brickell City Centre. “Seeing the city center come to life and transform Brickell and the way its residents live and play has been an amazing chapter of my life.” His success comes from studying the market and understanding statistics and market trends. “I never blame the market and always focus on the marketing,” he says.

While professional successes have been significant achievements for Duque, he says that finding the balance between work and life this past year has also been fulfilling. “Understanding that I don’t have to feel guilty for not being available or having my own time to myself has been important,” he says. Duque makes it a point to try to give back to the South Florida community that he’s been a part of for so long, supporting local organizations and charities like Chapman House, Make-a-Wish and Giveback Homes. Duque also enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with friends and family, which includes his 14-year-old French bulldog.
