From solid benefits to student success, Miami has everything teachers need to thrive, according to a study from Preply.
The education and tutoring company used data from sources like Axios and Indeed to rank U.S. cities based on factors like salary, student performance and community support.
Miami ranked in the top 20, just behind Hartford, Connecticut, and Buffalo, New York.
Miami’s low student-to-teacher ratio (19:1) empowers teachers to provide excellent education to students. Plus, Miami spends $11,123 per student yearly.
These positive investments and Boston’s average teacher salary of $40,453 contribute to the city’s 80.60% teacher-retention rate.
Additionally, Miami received a 74% retirement benefit score. For context, the top city for teachers, Boston, only received a 58% score in this category.
Students succeed in Miami schools, scoring well for fourth-grade reading and receiving one of the top fourth-grade math scores.
“Each city presents its own set of opportunities and challenges, based on its unique cultural attitude towards education and community engagement,” said Sylvia Johnson, Preply’s language and intercultural skills expert. “Teachers can enjoy, prosper and feel gratified if they are better prepared to navigate these cultural landscapes.”
