Germany replaces Colombia as the No. 1 foreign country searching for Miami real estate

by Emily Marek

Germans have their sights set on Miami, according to a new report from the Miami Association of Realtors (MIAMI).

Searches originating from Germany made up 9.3% of all searches for Miami real estate in September, replacing Colombia as the top country looking for homes in The 305. Colombia dropped to No. 2.

This is also the second consecutive year that Miami home searches from Germany have increased in the fall — Germans previously made up the majority of foreign home searches for Miami properties in October 2022.

“German homebuyers love Miami for all the reasons consumers from 54 countries buy Miami real estate each year — it’s our unparalleled lifestyle, diversity, beaches, shops, restaurants and other attractions,” MIAMI Chairman Ines Hegedus-Garcia said in a press release.

Specifically, Berlin and Frankfurt were the cities of origin for a majority of these searches, although the Colombian city of Bogotá still ranked first overall.

These were the top 10 countries searching for Miami real estate in September:

  1. Germany (9.3%)
  2. Colombia (8.8%)
  3. Venezuela (6.4%)
  4. Argentina (5.1%)
  5. China (4.3%)
  6. New Zealand (4.2%)
  7. Spain (4.1%)
  8. Philippines (3.3%)
  9. Mexico (2.9%)
  10. Canada (2.9%)
