Colombia is the No. 1 foreign country searching for Miami real estate

by Emily Marek

When it comes to international homebuyers looking for real estate in South Florida, Colombia is the most interested country, according to a June report from the MIAMI Association of REALTORS®.

Global web searches for Miami homes on MiamiRealtors.com most commonly originated from Colombia in June. That marks the 16th month in a row where the country ranked No. 1 or No. 2 for most Miami-related real estate searches.

“Global buyers are flocking to Miami for its unrivaled blend of cosmopolitan allure and exceptional real estate opportunities, with prices that outshine those of other global cities,” said MIAMI Chairman of the Board Ines Hegedus-Garcia.

Furthermore, Colombian searches accounted for 10.61% of all international online inquiries related to South Florida homes. Colombia was followed by Germany at 8.61%, Venezuela at 6.15%, Argentina at 5.73%, Philippines at 4.64%, Spain at 4.55%, Canada at 4.18%, Mexico at 4.05%, China at 3.76% and India at 2.69%.

When it comes to those actually purchasing Miami-area real estate, Argentina-based buyers purchased more property than any other international group in 2022, making up 16% of all international purchases in the area.
