Agent Snapshot: Nina Millman, Realtor Associate, West Avenue Realty, Brickell

Nina Millman

Nina Millman

What was your first job in the realty industry? Selling a pre-construction home in Boca.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Shop. I probably shouldn’t, but to be totally honest I indulge in retail therapy. My favorite things are makeup, jewelry, shoes and handbags when I need a pick me up.

Where did you grow up? A very small opal mining town in the outback of South Australia called Coober Pedy. There was no running water or air conditioning and temperatures reach 120 degrees in the summer!

Growing up, what did you want to be? A prima ballerina or the Prime Minister of Australia. I guess I wasn’t afraid of being the center of attention!

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be? That’s a tough one, probably Nelson Mandela. I can’t imagine there is much he doesn’t know about life, love, truth, patience and happiness.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? The gym. It’s my happy place.

What do you love most about the industry? That there are so many aspects to it so I never get bored. I love meeting all the new people, the architecture and design elements of each residence, the way that the built environment impacts our neighborhoods, cities and lives. It’s such a diverse and challenging career.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? By providing design advice and services. My work can be seen in most of my listings and homes that my client’s have purchased.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? People whether clients or agents who are not completely forthcoming about important aspects of a transaction. It is hugely inefficient to be working in a situation where you don’t have all of the facts.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Nowhere outside of everyday life really. I’m sure I should!

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Working with first time home buyers is so rewarding, people who thought that they would not be able to have their dream home then finding a way to make it a reality is an amazing feeling. You know that you are impacting generations in a positive way.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The Man from Uncle. So stylish, funny, understated and little unexpected.

What is your favorite restaurant? MC Kitchen

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? The City Centre complex with Reach and Rise really interest me. The movement of aspects like the climate ribbon, the green spaces on rooftops, the integration of living and lifestyle uses of the buildings make them my current favorite.

What kind of car do you drive? Range Rover Sport.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone, although I still love paper and pen and always have some at my desk!

What is your favorite city after Miami? Las Vegas, my 2nd home.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Decide what makes you unique and be real and honest.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Don’t have one.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? I’m not on Twitter. I love Instagram and follow mainly fashion and makeup people and pages. I am not really into celebrity news and lifestyles – I’m more interested in my own!
