Seattle agent Jeanie Kendall launched Common Ground Referrals, a real estate referral brokerage that aims to connect LGBTQ clients with vetted, values-aligned real estate professionals at no cost.

The concept for her brokerage was born after Kendall and her wife relocated from Seattle to northwest Arkansas and experienced firsthand how hard it can be to find inclusive, LGBTQ-friendly agents in certain parts of the country.

Though licensed in Washington, Common Ground Referrals will serve clients across the United States.

“I created this service primarily to assist LGBTQ folks around the country find agents they could trust to help them without judgement, particularly in parts of the country where queer folks risk being discriminated against or can’t find a queer agent because the agents don’t feel safe to advertise themselves as being in the community,” Kendall told Seattle Agent, “But it’s available to anyone who wants to take the time and guesswork out of vetting values-aligned agents.”

Kendall was previously an agent with Keller Williams Greater Seattle. Now, as an independent agent, she won’t be restricted in which brokerages she refers to.

“I don’t want there to be any expectations that I keep referrals ‘in-house’ or send someone to a particular brokerage,” Kendall said in a press release. “If I know the best person for you happens to be at Brokerage A, that’s where I’m going to send you. If they’re at Brokerage B, that’s where I’m going to send you.”
