Marina Sharoiko Real estate agent

Macken Realty, Hollywood

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
As a child, I spent time on a farm picking apples — a vivid memory I carry with me even today. The smell of fresh apples is something that’s etched into my mind; it was the very beginning of my journey in appreciating the importance of work and the value of nature and family. This experience taught me so much about dedication and patience, which I carry with me as a Realtor when working with clients and finding them homes that will hopefully be as memorable for them as that farm was for me.
Where did you grow up?
Minsk, Belarus.
Growing up, what did you want to be?
A ballerina 🙂
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
When I need to relax, I like to get outside and enjoy a change of scenery. A walk or jog helps me clear my mind and reset. I call it a meditation — it helps me put things in perspective and recharge. I find that balance is key, so I make time for these moments to ensure I can bring my best energy and focus to my work.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Anthony Bourdain. His passion for food, culture and storytelling was truly inspiring. I loved how he connected with people from all walks of life and shared their stories through food. It would be amazing to sit down with him over a meal and hear about his adventures and experiences!
Where is South Florida’s best-kept secret?
I love Weeki Wachee Springs. It’s a beautiful park with clear, blue water where you can kayak and see all kinds of wildlife.
What do you love most about the industry?
What I love most about real estate, especially on the investment side, is the opportunity to help clients build their future and achieve financial security. There’s something exciting about finding a property with potential, analyzing the numbers and seeing it become a valuable asset over time. Every investment tells its own story, and I enjoy guiding clients through strategies that match their goals and seeing them succeed.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Navigating the emotional side of real estate. Buying or selling a home is often a significant life event for clients, and it can be stressful. Balancing their hopes and expectations while managing the practicalities of the market can be challenging
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Market yourself — it should be part of your everyday routine — networking and focusing on building genuine relationships.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
Wealth Building Made Simple by Brian Tracy
What’s your favorite meal in South Florida?
I love everything in SoFlo, especially exploring new flavors that reflect the vibrant culture. There’s always something delicious to discover!
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in South Florida?
I’m a big fan of the Art Deco buildings in Miami Beach. Their vibrant colors, unique shapes and historical significance create such a distinctive charm. Walking through that area feels like stepping back in time, and you can really appreciate the design elements that were used before air-conditioning became common. It’s fascinating to see how those buildings have stood the test of time!
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
Once during a private tour, a curious cat just strolled right in! She made herself at home, weaving between our legs and lounging on the couch. Instead of feeling awkward, we all ended up laughing and petting her, and my clients thought it was a sign to purchase this property. It was something to remember.
What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
I have a passion for cooking! I love experimenting with different cuisines and trying to recreate dishes I’ve had on my travels. I believe that a dining table is the centerpiece of any home. There’s something special about sharing good food and laughter around the table!
What’s your favorite vacation spot and why?
My favorite vacation spot is Lake Como in Italy. It’s like a scene straight out of a postcard: gorgeous mountains, sparkling water and charming little towns. I love wandering around, trying all the delicious food and pretending to be in a romantic movie every time I take a boat ride.
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Build relationships and always prioritize excellent client service!
