2019 Loan Officer of the Year: Nancy Aguirre, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp.

by South Florida Agent

Nancy Aguirre
Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp.

I was raised on the South Side of Chicago by immigrant Mexican parents. My parents weren’t professionals. In fact my mom’s education was that of 3rd grade and my father’s was 6th grade, but they instilled in me the importance of a strong work ethic. I learned that anything I wanted I could achieve through hard work and determination.

In March 2005, I took a risk and decided to move to Miami. I was only 18 years old. I was fortunate to have been offered the opportunity to work in the mortgage department at Washington Mutual as secretary. I started to find opportunities to help the other loan officers until I was promoted as an assistant to a top producing loan officer. This was the foundation of my career. I loved helping clients, and solving problems to help them achieve their goal of homeownership. I learned the importance of delivering excellent service, going the extra mile and educating myself so I could in return educate the client and help make their dream come true.

In 2009, the market shifted and the loan officer I assisted decided to switch careers. I had a decision to make. I took a leap of faith and became a loan officer during one of the most challenging real estate markets. I took all I had learned as an assistant and I worked hard. In 2013, I received my first award as the Youngest National Top Performer for Regions Bank followed again in 2014.

Today, I’m 32 years old, a mother to 3 children with the youngest being just 5 months old. I was recognized as 2018 Fairway Club Member for Top performers for Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, and being nominated as a Loan Officer of the year is a humbling accomplishment. Especially being nominated alongside Daniel Eguirguren. He was one of the top loan officers at Washington Mutual that I aspired to be like when I was just an assistant. I hope I can inspire other woman that anything is possible. You can come from humble beginnings, you can be a mom, and you can be a woman in a male-dominated industry and still reach for the sky. Give it your all, seek to help others, and put in the work. — Nancy Aguirre
