Redfin opened an office in the South Florida real estate market and will sell and list homes across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami counties.

Redfin, a national real estate brokerage, will establish a presence in the South Florida real estate market. The Seattle-based brokerage will list and sell homes across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami counties. This is Redfin’s first Florida market and 22nd nationwide since the company launched in 2006.

“I think the South Florida office has a great opportunity to provide our service in a local way, but also to a group of homebuyers and homesellers that fit our model: young, progressive and educated,” Karen Krupsaw, vice president of real estate operations for Redfin, said. “We look for rapid growth and the market is growing very quickly and recovering and I just think that with this position not to be able to start relatively small but grow very rapidly like our other markets across the country.”

Redfin remains confident about the South Florida real estate market. According to the latest report on the Redfin blog, there has been a 149 percent increase in the percentage of homes going under contract in two weeks since last year in the Miami market. During the month of April, 12 percent of homes went under contract within one week of hitting the market and 19 percent within two weeks.

The office will be located in Palm Beach Gardens, and they are likely to be opening another office in Miami. However, area manager Robyn Jackson says the office won’t be a priority, since most agents will be working from their home base office or out in the field.

“We’re going to have a presence, and we’re certainly going to have our agents there, but they might not be housed in a traditional office setting,” she said.

Redfin currently has five agents working for them, and are actively hiring more to their team to handle the South Florida, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Palm Beach real estate markets.

“We’ve only just begun,” Jackson said in an interview with the Sun Sentinel.

Redfin will be holding a launch party for their South Florida office on June 20 at Red, The Steakhouse in Miami Beach. They encourage the public to join them for food, beverages and a chance to win an iPad mini.
