South Florida Realtors Confident About Recent Gains

by admin

Broward County, along with Palm Beach, has boasted positive housing sales every month this year.

Despite home sales statistics nationwide, strong showings in Broward and Palm Beach have some of the area’s Realtors confident about the region’s housing market.

Indeed, home sales have been good. Every month of 2011, sales have been up from 2010, an uncommon pattern in the current market.

To gauge Realtor reaction to the positive data, Paul Owers of the Sun Sentinel reached out to three real estate agents for their opinion on the South Florida market. Here are their responses:

“David Dweck of Charles Rutenberg Realty in Fort Lauderdale says the positive sales trend will continue. ‘We’re affordable again, and that makes a difference,’ he said.

Bob Melzer of Lang Realty in Boynton Beach is mostly optimistic, saying the region remains a destination for home buyers. But if the economy and the debt crisis turn even uglier, ‘who in their right mind would buy a home?’

Finally, Greg McBride, a senior financial analyst with Bankrate.com in North Palm Beach, says investors paying cash have fueled South Florida’s recent buying binge and are less sensitive to economic concerns than more traditional buyers. He doesn’t see a sales decline ‘unless the economy completely rolls over.'”
