Realtor Carole Smith of Esslinger-Wooten-Maxwell (EWM) was recently honored among the BEST in the South Florida Building Industry and named 2008 Realtor of the Year, a distinction which she also received in 2006. The BEST awards competition is recognized as a premiere award in the building industry statewide.
The award was presented for outstanding contributions in Florida’s real estate market, where she has excelled since 1990. Smith specializes in homes in the Miami, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Pinecrest and South Miami markets.
A partnership between the Builders Association of South Florida (BASF), The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald, Florida’s BEST Awards program evaluates products and professionals in the building industry in over two-dozen categories. The 24-year-old awards program was formerly known as FAME (Florida Achievement and Marketing Excellence).
To evaluate the entries, 22 out-of-state building industry professionals from around the nation traveled to South Florida for the judging, which took place over a three-day period in February 2008. From the panel, judges with sales and marketing expertise assessed advertising entries related to the building industry as well as personal achievement entries.
Homes, offices and communities were judged for design, craftsmanship, creativity, features and amenities, functionality, flow and value. Advertising entries were evaluated for criteria such as concept, copy, layout, execution, creativity, design, impact and originality. Personal achievement entries were assessed for evidence of communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and leadership skills, commitment to the industry and creativity and imagination. Winners were announced at the Florida’s BEST Awards Banquet.
In addition to Smith’s recent award as 2008 Realtor of the Year, she was also named 2006 Top Producer for the EWM Coral Gables office and South Florida mega-broker by Unique Homes Magazine. She is a member of the prestigious Council of Residential Specialists and the Master Brokers Forum of Florida, as well the Woman’s Council of Realtors. She is a recipient of the Vandema Award for her Web site and is a member of Allen Haigne’s Cyberstars.
