I am a poker aficionado.
Who inspires you?
I admire individuals that are at the forefront of technology. Steve Jobs is someone that has overcome many obstacles to secure his place as a pioneer of technology.
What was your first job in the realty business?
I started working in the realty business at the age of 20 for Century Homebuilders.
How did you learn the business?
I am a self-taught, self-motivated businessman. My vast knowledge in the realty business is based on the simple formula of trial and error.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
The biggest challenge by far is working with a client’s perception of the real estate market. I try to educate my clients on market trends and current activity so we can make accurate projections.
What was your worst job, and what did you learn from it?
When I was 16 years old, I worked as a lifeguard at a local community pool. I worked mostly on weekends, which I did not like and the exposure to the sun was brutal. From this experience, I learned to be disciplined and aware of my surroundings at all times. I had to maintain focus on what I was doing, which I apply now, and it has helped me reach the success I enjoy.
Where do you go to network and meet new clients?
Latin Builders Association, Next In Line, Builders Association of South Florida; I also take advantage of online sources such as craigslist.org, myspace.com and backpages.com. Other good networking sources are the local charity fundraisers I regularly attend.
What has been your greatest accomplishment?
I was chosen as a member of a delegation that met with President George W. Bush to discuss small business tax incentives.
Where would you like to be in five years, professionally?
I want to take Real Estate Sales Force to the next level in five years by buying out Coldwell Banker and becoming one of the largest real estate companies in the country.
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Anyone getting into the realty business must be an independent thinker. I would strongly advise someone to think outside the box and to be innovative in whatever they do.
