In Bert Gor’s first full year in real estate, he was named RE/MAX’s Rookie of the Year. Now 15 years later, he is a member of the prestigious RE/MAX Hall of Fame for career sales and has ranked in the Top 10 RE/MAX agents for multiple years. “RE/MAX gives me the ability to market homes better than any other company I have seen,” Gor said. “RE/MAX has the No. 1-visited websites in the world, and we have a ton of foreign buyers in South Florida.”

A licensed Realtor with RE/MAX in multiple states, Gor’s specialty is working with buyers and sellers of residential homes and specializes in waterfront South Florida homes. An avid boater, Gor has extensive waterfront property knowledge that he shares with clients.

At the beginning of his career, Gor primarily served investors and for-sale-by-owner (FSBO) clients. But after the economic crisis of 2007–08, he created a business called The Short Sale Group, Inc.

For the next 10 years of his career, Gor and his team dedicated themselves to saving homeowners from foreclosure. A distressed homeowner himself at one time, he wanted to help others in this situation sell their homes and get a fresh start. “I am a previous business owner,” says Gor, the former president and owner of Chicago Wireless, a company that was the No. 1 independently owned AT&T Wireless dealer when AT&T entered the Chicago market. “I have faced the struggles that many homeowners did when the market crashed, having numerous rental properties that went into some stage of pre-foreclosure and then had to recover,” he says. A Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE), Gor has saved more than 400 distressed homeowners from foreclosure via short sale.

Through his experience with The Short Sale Group, Inc., Gor learned how to properly identify real property value, which he says has been an extremely useful tool in South Florida’s recovered marketplace. “Still to this day, there are many people that are in trouble with their homes, but we do not hear about it over the great news of how well the market has bounced back,” Gor says. “Although short sales are not my main focus anymore, every homeowner who is saved from a foreclosure is still an incredible accomplishment.”

A resident of Boca Raton, Gor calls South Florida “the paradise of the United States.” Gor is the only son of immigrant parents, and seeing the challenges his parents faced in becoming citizens and homeowners made him “never take for granted the meaning of the almighty dollar. Having visited Hungary many times when I was younger, I have a better understanding of how hard things really can be and what we in the U.S. have.”

Gor’s proudest personal accomplishment is his wife of 10 years and their three young children. “The unwavering support of my wife allows me to be successful at what I do. My children daily give me the passion to be honest, reliable, and trustworthy to them and my clients.”
