Jorge Mas, a billionaire and owner of the Inter Miami soccer team who brought international superstar Lionel Messi to the club, just sold his South Florida estate for $13.9 million — marking the priciest sale ever in Pinecrest.

Joshua Kaufman with The Buchbinder Group at COMPASS represented the buyer, the village of Pinecrest, which plans to convert the estate into a passive park and indoor facility for the community. Mas is donating $3.9 million of the purchase price back to the municipality in exchange for naming rights for the proposed park.

Located at 11855 SW 60th Road, the estate encompasses five acres and was the largest privately owned residential parcel in Pinecrest. Before Mas, the property was owned by the Montgomery family, known as the founders of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens in Coral Gables.

The land features original works by landscape architect Raymond Jungles and has a collection of exotic trees and plants surrounding a lagoon. The resort-style home is over 11,000 square feet and has five bedrooms, eight bathrooms and two half baths. A separate two-story structure includes a wine cellar and entertainment area, tennis court and grotto-inspired pool.
