A newly constructed, beachfront mansion broke the Fort Lauderdale record for the most expensive residential sale of all time when it sold for $40 million last week.

Located at 3052 N. Atlantic Blvd., the seven-bedroom, 10.5-bathroom estate was designed by luxury yacht and interior design firm A La Mer, Inc. Unique features include a Honeywell Smart Home system, a hidden housekeeper’s office and a commercial-grade elevator that services all four floors.

Tim Elmes, Melanie Groenendaal and Austin Baris of The Elmes Group at COMPASS represented both the buyer and the seller: David MacNeil, founder and CEO of WeatherTech.

MacNeil later expressed his overall satisfaction with the experience. “Working with the Elmes Group has been a wonderful experience,” he said. “I am thankful to Tim, Melanie and their team. They truly know and understand the luxury real estate market like no one else.”

Elmes also commented on the sale in a press release. “This sale exemplifies Fort Lauderdale’s thriving real estate market,” Elmes said. “It not only reaffirms the demand for luxury properties but also highlights the attraction of Fort Lauderdale and everything the city has to offer its residents.”
