South Floridians know the lure of their region quite well: diverse residents, healthy job market, great weather. And a new report shows that people around the globe want in on the action — especially Texans and Colombians.
The Miami Association of Realtors recently counted the number of web searches for homes in Miami from international and domestic users, with Colombia taking the cake, accounting for 12.6 percent of all international searches.
The top 5 include:
- Colombia: 12.6 percent
- Venezuela: 9.5 percent
- Canada: 7 percent
- Brazil: 5.8 percent
- Argentina: 5 percent
Miami Realtors’ report also showed that the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metropolitan area was the most-searched location for international buyers, with Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim coming in second.
“The world’s love for Miami goes beyond our beautiful beaches and weather,” said George C. Jalil, 2018 Miami Realtors chairman of the board. “South Florida is the most-searched U.S. market because we are home to a welcoming, diverse and multilingual population. South Florida boasts incredible cultural institutions and is the financial epicenter for the southern hemisphere.”
But Miami doesn’t just have international appeal: U.S. consumers also want to live there, particularly Texans, who had the most number of searches for homes here in January.
