Nita-Summers

Nita Summers is the managing broker of Douglas Elliman’s Boca Raton office.

Every week, we ask a Miami real estate professional for their thoughts on the top three stories from the week before. This week, we spoke with Nita Summers, managing broker of Douglas Elliman’s Boca Raton office.

Miami Agent (MA): For a Realtor coming in from out of town into Miami, what should they know about the market in order to stay successful?

Nita Summers (NS): Knowledge of the market, the communities and what they have to offer, as well as their fees and demographics

MA: As someone who’s work in both the New York and Miami markets. What is it that’s attracting so many New Yorker’s to Miami?

NS: I have not been in N.Y. for several years, but I can tell you what attracted me and most of our New York buyers – the weather and the quality of life it affords.  Florida is easy to fly into from anywhere.  Our  weather and the accessibility  attracts a multitude of people from all over the world not just N.Y. making it a mecca for good restaurants, shopping, housing and sports and fitness centers.

MA: A recent report from Trulia found that asking prices in Miami rose 11 percent in 2014. What is it driving this trend?

NS: Supply vs. demand.  The inventory from the recession has been absorbed and, because the demand is there and the inventory is lacking, prices are increasing.
