Jorge Perez is featured on the cover of the January/February issue of Brickell Magazine.

Brickell Magazine will honor Jorge Perez as the face of the annual January/February real estate issue. In a cover story titled, “Return of an Icon,” the Miami developer gives insight into his life — from art collector and $35 million donation to Jorge M. Perez Art Museum of Miami-Dade County, to leading a new revitalized cycle of construction for Miami’s real estate scene.

Perez, the Related Group’s high-profile CEO, is known for projects he’s erected all over the world, including downtown Miami’s ICON Brickell building. At the height of the economy, he was one of the largest multi-family developers in the country and one of only a handful of billionaires in the US.

After the market downturn, Perez developed a new strategy of buying distressed assets that served as appealing rental options. “We’ve realized that there are two areas that we have great expertise in that are going to be huge trends for the next five years: affordable housing and market-rate luxury rentals,” says Perez. His current projects include a handful of developments in Florida.

The cover party will include Jorge Perez; Alexander Avila, publisher of Brickell Magazine, Jorge Arauz, editor of Brickell Magazine and featured brokers and designers from the January issue. Festivities will take place Friday, February 3 from 6 to 8 pm at MyBrickell sales center.
