Last year, Marc Bristol was all about surviving and thriving in this elevated interest rate market. As a vice president of mortgage lending and head of The Bristol Team at Guaranteed Rate, he took time to focus on growing his pipeline, as well as his skill set. “I earned several certifications on the city and state levels of first-time homebuyer grants and niche programs,” Bristol shares. “I am also increasing my teams licensing to dozens more states, so that I can grow with Realtors and builders across the country.”
With a 100% client-referral-based business, Bristol recalls hearing stories years ago from an underwriter friend about the mishandling of mortgage documents and deals falling through during the process. “My mind lit up, imagining ways I could help the process,” he remembers, which is when he realized his bigger purpose was to help people work toward obtaining homes. “I love what I do,” he says. “I still get the same satisfaction from clients achieving homeownership today, as I did 26 years ago; it drives me through every transaction.”
The Bristol Team includes Bristol’s wife, Tracy, who is the production manager, as well as processing, closing and marketing teams; all understanding how crucial each deal is to everyone involved. “It is so important to have consistency and a similar attitude from each team member,” he points out. “I am personally involved with each deal to talk through the process with the real estate agents, title officers and attorneys, in order to reach our common goal.”
A supporter of the Guaranteed Rate Foundation, Bristol loves spending time with his family and is proud that last year his three sons were able to enjoy family vacations, tackling all of their sports obligations, while still excelling in school. He enjoys biking, traveling, cooking, playing basketball, baseball and football with the family, while still finding time to play softball himself.
