2014 was a VERY good year for new construction in Miami, according to the latest stats.
Total residential construction spending in the Miami area was $6.623 billion in 2014, a 62 percent increase from 2013, according to new numbers from Dodge Data & Analytics.
That was in addition to Miami’s strong December construction market, which saw activity rise from $337 million in Dec. 2013 to $643 million in 2014, a 91 percent increase.
Those increases were far and away the strongest among large metro areas, but it will be very interesting to see if Miami can sustain those numbers in 2015, especially with the world’s currency markets behaving as they are – as we recently reported, a strong U.S. dollar (complemented by currency crises in foreign countries) has rendered U.S. housing much more expensive than in years past.
