What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I was a direct-hire agent for a large staffing firm.
Where did you grow up?
Chicago
Growing up, what did you want to be?
I have wanted to be in real estate for as long as I can remember!
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Cleaning and organizing my home helps take my mind off of stress and creates a calming environment. If that is not an option, a good long walk in nature does the trick.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Dale Carnegie. While I think he was an amazing sales person, he believed that people matter more than profit.
Where is South Florida’s best-kept secret?
People don’t always realize how much untouched nature there still is here. Areas near Rookery Bay, Fakahatchee Strand or the Ten Thousand Islands feel peaceful and removed, even though you’re close to everything.
What do you love most about the industry?
The opportunity to help people with one of the most important transactions in their lives.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Not all sales are for joyous reasons, but I still try to make the transaction as smooth and stress free as possible.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Leads come from every personal interaction you have on a daily basis! I have gotten leads at the nail salon or even buying/selling items on Facebook Marketplace. Talk to people. Be friendly.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
I don’t watch very much television. I do enjoy learning and self help/motivational materials. I am currently reading “Shift your thinking for success” by Dean Del Sesto.
What’s your favorite meal in South Florida?
I love seafood! The ability to get the freshest seafood is amazing.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in South Florida?
That is a tough question! I am a little eclectic. I appreciate so many different styles. Personally, I am drawn to British West Indies design, due to it’s elegant coastal feel.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
I was hosting an open house on Marco Island, giving a tour of the lanai area, which happens to be on open water near the Jolly Bridge. A tiki boat passed by filled with people having a great time. They all started hollering out “BUY THE HOUSE, BUY THE HOUSE!” I wish I had cheerleaders like that all the time!
What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
While my work is very people focused, I’m happiest in quieter moments at home. I really value calm, comfort and that feeling of being grounded in my own space.
What’s your favorite vacation spot and why?
My favorite vacation spot is actually right here in Southwest Florida. I grew up in the Chicagoland area, so being able to live where others vacation still feels special to me. The beauty, the sunlight, the water, I will never get tired of it!
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Relationship over revenue, always.
Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
I follow my brokerage, REMAX Alliance Group. What an amazing company to align with! We have 15 offices with some of the most amazing agents. I follow an agent named Heather Cook, who rescues dogs and slays in real estate! I am always learning from her. Lastly, I follow my pastor from church. I always strive to stay grounded, humble and grateful.
