Premier Sotheby’s International agent appointed to Sanibel Planning Commission

by John Yellig

Premier Sotheby’s International Realty agent Tiffany Burns was appointed to the Sanibel Planning Commission, which guides land use and development on Southwest Florida’s Sanibel Island.

Burns, who works from Premier Sotheby’s Sanibel and Captiva office, said one of her primary goals as a commissioner will be to emphasize environmental stewardship and responsible development.

“Sanibel’s founders were ahead of their time in recognizing the need to balance growth with ecological preservation,” she said in a press release. “Their forward-thinking approach continues to serve as a model for other municipalities across Florida.”

Burns has deep knowledge of local building codes and land-use regulations, having overseen and consulted on the construction or remodeling of dozens of island properties. In the wake of Hurricane Ian, Burns is particularly focused on ensuring that rebuilding efforts restore and enhance Sanibel’s resilience and quality of life.

“The storm brought unprecedented challenges, but it also created an opportunity to implement innovative solutions that will benefit residents for years to come,” she said.

Burns earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees with high honors from the University of Florida, specializing in decision and information sciences. She and her husband actively support local organizations, including FISH, CROW and the Sanibel School.
