Florida tops the list for home inventory

Florida is the state with the highest proportion of new listings, according to a report from Los Feliz.

Analyzing property listings from January 2020 to June 2023, Los Feliz found that Florida accumulated 1.7 million new listings at a rate of 20,665 per every 100,000 homes. All told, prospective homebuyers in the Sunshine State see approximately 42,365 new listings every month.

Additionally, Los Feliz found that nearly all states with high proportions of new listings are in the southern or western U.S. The South sees the most new home listings of any region in the country, with about 172,280 new listings every month.

Here are the top 10 states with the most new listings during the past three and a half years, as well as each state’s rate of new listings per 100,000 homes.

  1. Florida: 20,665
  2. Idaho: 19,427
  3. South Carolina: 18,406
  4. Nevada: 18,162
  5. Utah: 17,675
  6. Colorado: 17,623
  7. Arizona: 17,370
  8. Georgia: 16,338
  9. Delaware: 15,817
  10. Tennessee: 15,536
