Home ASAP: Three-quarters of brokers saw flat or growing business in 2020

by Stacy Carchman

The majority of real estate agents (58%) remains optimistic about the housing market in 2021, despite low inventory of homes, the ongoing pandemic and iBuyers, according to the 2021 State of the Real Estate Agent report a new survey by Home ASAP, a digital real estate marketing firm that provides social media services.

While the selling season in 2020 was challenging for real estate agents, the report noted that 75% of respondents said their business volume last year held steady or grew. However, some agents are not so optimistic.

Some of the changes agents and brokers reported having made over the last year include adapting to social distancing guidelines by providing video walk-throughs (30%) and using social media to market themselves (90%).

Agents feel threatened by large companies, such as Zillow, that have disrupted the traditional home-selling process by offering homeowners instant offers on their homes. Agents also see these iBuyers as a cause for concern, according to the report.
