Parkland is the safest city in Greater Miami, and Weston is a close second.
That’s according to Neighborhood Scout, which used FBI crime data to calculate and compare crimes per capita in U.S. cities.
Nationwide, both Parkland and Weston break the top 25 of the rating website’s top 100 safest cities, and statewide, the Miami suburbs come in at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
Looking at the numbers, the rankings are well deserved.
Both have property and violent crime rates well below national and state standards. Per 1000 people, Parkland’s violent crime rate was 0.27 and Weston’s was 0.4, compared to the nation’s 3.8 rate and the state’s 4.62. The cities’ property crime rates were nearly identical at 6.56 and 6.59, respectively, which put them significantly behind the national rate of 24.9 and the state’s rate of 28.13.
These stats are so important, because, as a realtor.com survey recently confirmed, neighborhood safety is a top 3 concern for homebuyers of all generations, and the No. 1 concern for first-time homebuyers.
