Every week, we ask a real estate professional for their Short List, a collection of tips and recommendations on an essential topic in real estate. This week, we talked with Chris Lopez, a real estate agent with H&M Realty Group, who shared his tips for working with Millennials in the digital age.
3. Millennials have grown up in an age where what has worked for past generations does not work for them. They want to visually see things versus reading a brochure of information about who’s “the best” agent in Miami. Grab the attention of Millennials with a more simple approach. These Millennial brains are programmed to microwave thinking. They want fast results and fast responses. Be consistent with your emails and quick with your replies. Don’t make your emails over the top, keep them simple. Remember, Millennials are always busy doing a million things, therefore, you may need to stay on top of them in a professional way. Make time and invest in the Millennials, after all, its not just about making them a client but building a relationship with them!
2. Being a small fish in a sea full of Miami sharks can be intimidating for any new agent. The success for a new agent relies on the passion and determination of the agent. These Miami real estate sharks we watch on realty television were once small fish too. It’s important to never lose the passion that initally led you to pursuing a successful career in this business. You can’t run after something that you are not passion about. Every new agent MUST have a vision of how they want to succeed with a strategic plan on how to execute it. It’s much easier to succeed at something when you know what you’re running towards. Don’t focus all your energy on just trying to get that one million dollar listing. Generating a handful of small listing can quickly equal the same commission as that one million dollar listing would. In addition, you will have a handful more of clients promoting you versus just one. When starting out, its important to always be building relationship with everyone while leaving a rememberable impression. Creating a network with a solid pipeline is the key to the foundation of this business.
1. Consistently generating quality content is the most straightforward method any agent can take to maximize their exposure. The content of your post is very important across the board on all of your social networks. You need to make sure you are consistently appearing on the timelines and feeds of your followers and friends. Update them on all things real estate. But consistently doesn’t mean obnoxiously. Professionally show off your listing, sales and anything that you think may grab the attention of even just one person, all in a very appealing way. Every post matters regardless if its on Twitter, Facebook or even Instagram. Maximize on all of your networks by knowing your audience. Create friendly conversational posts versus annoying car salesman like pitches. The worst thing you can do in today’s real estate market is not take advantage of the Internet to create real exposure for yourself. As cliche as it is to say: you don’t exist if you’re not online.
With nearly a decade of marketing experience, with a focus in online campaigns including social media, Chris Lopez entered real estate with a unique advantage of being able to effectively market himself across today’s most relevant platforms. He is currently a real estate agent with H&M Realty Group.
