This week, we talked with Kerly Cortez, a broker associate with The Keyes Company in Doral. Along with being a noted expert in the Doral and Miami-Dade real estate markets, Kerly is also an expert in pre-construction real estate, and she works with an extended assortment of international clients.
Miami Agent (MA): It’s no mystery that Miami is one of the most active real estate markets in the U.S. for international homebuyers; what countries do you find are the most interested in Miami’s housing market?
Kerly Cortez (KC): Canada, Argentina, Venezuela and Columbia are the most interested. Canadians love Miami’s warm weather and beaches, and buyers from Argentina, Venezuela and Columbia are sometimes home shopping here because of their country’s political situation.
MA: And is it a different homebuying experience, working with international clients?
KC: It’s completely different. They want to be sure that the U.S. economy is recovering; they want to actually see the recovery, and see how the city of Miami is growing. So I have to show them that Miami is a worthy place of their investment.
MA: Finally, earlier this month, we reported on the big three syndication sites – Zillow, Trulia and Realtor.com – and analyzed how agents may use them for their businesses. Given your international clientele, how do you market your listings?
KC: Because I work with The Keyes Company, my listings are distributed to 25 different sites and marketplaces, including those three sites. So I deliver my listings to the company, and they then send them out.
