Americans Are Movin’ Out

The rate at which Americans moved to new residents plummeted during the housing downturn, but a new survey from Mayflower suggest a turnaround.

Bill Joel’s classic number “Movin’ Out” may date back to 1977, but the timeless tune serves as a fine backdrop to the latest survey from Mayflower, the moving company.

According to Mayflower’s latest study of Americans’ moving habits, residential moves are not only on the rise, but more and more American homeowners are considering moves in the next year, a development that can only bode well for the U.S. housing market. After all, the economic downturn several affected the rate at which Americans moved, and because of that, all the real estate transactions that would have inevitably taken place during that move never happened.
