As the Miami Rescue Mission (MRM) gears up to feed thousands during the Thanksgiving holiday, it has announced a new round of renovations that will greatly expand its services.

MRM will be partnering with Michael Capponi, the chairman of Capponi Construction Group, LLC, for an expansion of its Men’s Center Annex.

The Miami Rescue Mission renovation by Capponi Construction Group will increase capacity by adding 78 beds and complete the expansion of the Miami-based homeless shelter, giving the new building at 2031 NW 1 Ct. Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design, Inc. is the project’s architect and design firm.

Michael Capponi, the chairman of Capponi Construction, has been involved in various humanitarian efforts before. In 2008, proceeds from Capponi’s birthday fundraiser benefitted the Miami Rescue Mission and other non-profit organizations, and the following year, Capponi contributed a new health clinic for the homeless, sponsored the Great Thanksgiving Day Banquet and donated a vehicle named Hope Mobile to the Miami Rescue Mission, for which he serves as an Advisory Board member.

Capponi is also the founder of the Haiti Empowerment Mission, which works on rebuilding Haiti through direct aid to its residents.

The Center for Men at Miami Rescue Mission offers a comprehensive, eight- to 14-month residential program for men who suffer from the deeply challenging problems of chronic homelessness, which is most often caused by chemical abuse or addiction, medical and mental issues, illiteracy or lack of adequate job skills.
